Cracked air dam

My '05 SLK350 has the AMG sport package in Firemist Red with manual transmission. The car is a real blast to drive with this setup as the handling is superb and the gearbox is matched so well with the powerplant. Only one problem, though. The front is so low that the air dam scrapes the ground going over dips. No big deal scratching the paint but I did manage to crack the plastic on a curb. Nothing broke off and the damage is not all that evident but I do intend to fix the damage soon.
$2500and I can have the whole front fascia replaced. Seems a bit overkill when the thing is still in one piece.Anybody had this experience and been able toaffecta repair without replacing the whole fascia?I will do the 2500 if need be as the car is far too good to leave the way it is.There was a thread on the subject of the scraping low front end but I didn't see any discusuion of repairs. If I missed something, please point me to it.
Meanwhile I think I've learned to not bounce the front end off the pavement, etc.

My '01 hits those damn parking lot curb stones, so I have cracked mine too. If you can get to the back side, a fiberglass patch (like repairing a surf board)will reinforce the crack so a repair on the out side will last. I did mine that way. Ask your body shop if they will guarranty such work, or... DIY like I did.
