Default clunking sound when I sit in my SLK320

I recently noticed that if I jump into the seat of my 2001 SLK320 that there is a loud clunking sound. It seems to be coming from underneath the car. If I ease into the car gently, I do not get the sound, but if I plop down in the seat(as I do when I am in a hurry) the sound is obvious. Any thoughts?

Do you park on a hill by any chance?

Is the drivers seat electric or manual? You didn't reply to my question regarding parking on a hill.

No hill, it is always in my garage. The car is an automatic. It does not happen everytime, which makes troubleshooting more difficult. I am going to try tightening the screws on the seat as recommended and see how it goes.
