BRKE QUESTION - 1998 SLK 230

The brake light on the dash has started to come on when braking.

How long before I must do something?

How difficult to change the pads?

What about the rotors?

Thanks

it you want use your exsiting rotors, you definitely want change your pads before you go metal to metal. i would not have them turned. no tolerance there. replace instead, if they are not in perfect condition. for what it's worth, some shops won't change pads unless they do the rotors, others will. it's a bit subjective. however,if you're around 60k on the mileage you should be ok. and it's not rocket science tod i y.

btw you'll need a tool to compress the calliper piston. it slips between the old brake pads and then pushes them apart, thus pushing the piston back in to the calliper.
