Default Torque Spec - Valve Covers

I am replacing the seals for the valve covers on my 1983 500SL. I do not want to over torque the bolts and risk stripping the threads in the heads. Does anyone know the proper torque specification?

Yes, all merc rocker covers should be torqued to 15ib/feet. And also place a washer on each stud before tightening as this will give true torque settings. Also use RTV gasket sealant and leave it for about 10 hours before starting the engine, this combined with the new merc gasket will leave a oil tight seal!
