I recently purchesed a 99 SL600 V12 Block. I am looking for any information I could find about it. Does anyone know where I can find a technical manual or information about the car/engine. The problem I am running into is its such a low production car there isn't much info out there. Thanks for the help.

 

I bought a DVD from ebay for my SL600, but could never make it work, so you should beware of those on ebay,

The product number of that DVD is obsolete and probably why the site says back order. That version, P270012904 , was originally issued in 2004 and was very problematic to use due to MB's use of encryption code to prevent copying. The unanticipated consequence of their scheme was that it made the DVD near impossible to use reliably.

MB is about to re-issue this DVD with a more modern, supposedly reliable version any day, with a retail price of around $88 + shipping. I'd hold off if I were you until this is released.It will carry the same P/N except the last 2 digits will be 07, designatingthe new release.

Another alternative is ebay FROM A SELLER WITH HIGH USER FEEDBACK, and buy the WIS/ASRA CD's; very inexpensive, a little difficult to install, but very detailed and thorough.

I bought the manuels directly from Mercedes; as when I bought my 2001 Sl600 a few months ago the manuels were no longer with the car. The manuels were delivered to my door in less than a week. The phone number to call to order them is: 410-367-4490

Myowners manuel and service book totaled up to $53. If they charged shipping it was included in that $53...

Oh- yeah the manuels I got through that phone number were the Owner's manuel and the Service Booklet. If that's not what you're looking for maybe the folks at that number can point you in the right direction, they seemed pretty helpful.

What exactly does a tech manuel have in it? Is that likea Chilton's "how to" manuel where it walks you through repairs, or what?
