Hi All,

Anyone know how to install and remove the hard top manually?

Frank,
The procedure for top on/off is detailed in the Owners Manual. If you don't have one, this link will take you to another forum where you can download a copy for your model year. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129...ml#post2391320

You'll also need the so-called 'special tool' that's in the toolkit originally supplied with the car. Look for the 'thing' that you don't recognize (5mm hex on one end, open end wrench on the other about 10" long) If you don't have it, they are available at the Dealer for around $15.

Default Releasing the hardtop

Maybe I'm mis reading your question; but, the hardtop is manual. It is very simple. Unplug the defrost wire near rear edge of drivers seat back. Open both doors. Turn key on and within 10 seconds, push the top release button on the console toward the REAR. The top should release and pop up.
Find a tall enough assistant to help you lift and carry off the top to the rear of the car. They don't need to be super strong, just tall enough to lift the top and not drag across the trunk. If the system doesn't operate, you'll need to follow Bob's instructions.
