Default Sl 500 starting problem

I have a 2000 sl500 and after runnning the car for 30 to 1 hour youy can not restart the car unless you wait for appox 30. When I turn the key i do not hear the fuel pump click or run.

on your water thermostat housing there should be a 4 pin temperature sensor. check for a ohm reading on the opposing pins. any continuity is what we're looking for no matter how small the needle movement. if not, replace and see what happens. a very cheap try. does it run ok when it does start or does it act like it's flooded, running a little rough at first then smoothing out.

When I restart the car it seems fine. Only after I drive the car for at least 30mins does the problem apear. At that point if I bring the car to an idle it will studder an quit. If I try to restart it right away it will roll over normally but will not start. Usually when I turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump click or run to build pressure. I do not hear this after driving for 30mins and than trying to restart. Whats strange is that if I wait for 30mins it start fine.

It runs fine. After driving the car for 30mins or more I have to wait 30mins to restart. It is like something has to cool down. Is it possibly the fuel pump

dying at idle adds something new and may not be related. check the sensor first. are these problems intermittent, do you have problems starting only if it dies at idle or shutting it off using the ignition switch? does your car surge?

This problem is not intermittent. For sure every time that the car is run for 30mins or more it is going to have the same problem. It is the same if the car stalls at idle or if I turn it off with the key. The car does not surge. When it run it is perfect.

During warm weather my 94 SL500 is hard to start. It does start but it acts like it is flooded and wants to die unless you give it gas. Does anyone know what the problem is?
