New owner of an 1999 SL500. Canot get CD player door to open. Green light does come on at the changer but nothing happens. Suspect their may have been a CD stuck in the 6 CD holder. Any suggestions?

 

i believe yours had a 6 cd changer in the trunk ....correct?

Yes, that is correct. I believe there is at least one CD in changer, possibly two.

 

a friend of mine has 02 and i disconnected the cable running to the changer,
tapped it slightly (ive had to smack my changer in my 03 sl) and it came back to life..
try this,,,,light slap after disconnecting it...then reconnect...worth a try.

glad to hear it worked... the next time u have the cd holder out
inspect it carefully for freedom of movement of the individual
cd slides,, the slightest nick on the little hook like protrusion can cause
lock up...good listening
