Default Newbie question on roll bars

I am looking to buy an SL between 1990-2000. Am I crazy or are some of these cars fitted with a roll bar or sorts. If so, is this a aftermarket or factory unit?

Thanks

AFAIK the have a roll bar from factory.
AFAIK the only come out in case of an accident, like an airbag, but I have seen some driving around with the thing up and I don't know if you can just do that by the push of a button.

Default Roll Bar Q&A

There is a sensor that you can see if you get under the car on each lower control arm in the rear. If the lower control arm seperates to far from the chassis is will signal the bar to come up, like in a roll-over when the suspension gets unloaded because the vehicle weight is not on the tires.
The bar can also be put up by a rocker switch on the right side under the radio, it has a roll bar picture on it. This is necessary because as an option the factory had a screen that would install on the roll bar to stop the turbulence caused when the top was down that would mess up your girls hair. Dave

Yes, I saw this feature on the one I looked at yesterday.

You can leave it up all the time apparently during top down driving.

Thanks
