Mercedes SL Storage
I have a question about my 560sl. I live in Maine and just had the car shipped here. My question is: Can I store it in my garage over the winter without any harm to the car? It will be in my attached garage that is dry, clean BUT not heated. Its new construction but gets cold. What is the best way to store it? Will it be ok for the winter in the garage? Should i put a space heater in the stall? I am new to car storage and wondering what you all do. Also just an FYL, its my baby so if it needs something extra that will "better" it I am prepared to do it. Thanks everyone! Have a good one!

Your in a similar position to I was last year b/c it was my first winter with the car. One decision to make is to either take the battery out and keep it with a battery charger or run the engine each week for 20 minutes. I went with the later because it was nice to get into it each week and think about the spring to come. Gas tank still read as full at end of the winter. The only other advice not already posted is to buy a pad to prevent moisture coming up underneath the car. Some post I read mentioned putting the car on jacks to prevent flat spots developing in the tires. I did not do that and did not have any issues come spring. Good luck.

Charge the starter battery (engine bay) to full and charge the Trunk battery every other month or have a maintenence charger conneted when it's stored.
If you drain the Trunk battery you can get malfunction codes.
Sorry this info is for R230 models

i drive my sl very little in the winter, so i actually keep a battery maintainer (floater) on both batteries, maintaining them greatly extends their life, particularly the appliance battery in the trunk, i strongly recommemd this, 20 bucks at wal-mart
