Default Master Cylinder too small?

My '94 SL600 brake pedal has been too soft for the last couple of years. I have bled the brakes several times, and still the pedal goes down farther than I would like before the brakes really grab. I have replaced all the rotors, so I don't think I have a runout or warpage problem. I asked my buddy who owns an M-B repair shop, and he said that most of the SLs from that time frame required a lot of master cylinder stroke to get them to stop hard.

Is there a bigger diameter master cylinder I can buy from another model that will bolt in ? I am used to manual brakes in my road racer, so I would not mind if I had to push a little harder on the pedal. I just don't like a brake pedal that goes down that far.
