Default the kombiinstrument

I have a problem with one of my friends SL car. When he start the car then it should be a check for 5 seconds on the instrument board ( the kombiinstrument) I mean that the light will light for 5 seconds, cause it is checking. But his SL does not do it....and I have checked the settings for it and the ARMDA setting but all seams to be right.....what can it be?

thank you

i think he means alarm system......
check engine light check 5 seconds and light out....
if no light mean someone take the light bulb away or blowed bulb....
if not the ecu causing the problem....

yes, somebody pull out the "check engine lamp" or rewire it parallel to the battery indicator lamp.

[8D]if you talking about the srs light ....that self test not just testing the system,it testing the voltage going to the srs module .it have to more then 13.8 v up then the srs light will off.

since airbag is the first safety item that could save your friend's life, it is better to scan it for any fault code.
seems the airbag control module got an interrupted power supply. if the scanning tools can recognize it, then maybe some wiring problem, if cannot, then you know what it is.
