Default I feel dumb-cooling system question

Recently bought a 1981 380SL... great condtion..beautiful, well cared for vehicle.

I just started getting under the hood and have a stupid question..

How to you filll / check the cooling system? There is no radiator cap except on the overflow tank? I searched high and low and I can't see any means of filling.

check the overflow tank. Try to find an owners manual, maybe on ebay

Thanks for the response.

The original owners manuals that came with the car gave no info on that. I have found a tech/repair manual on ebay and its on the way.

I want to drain and flush the cooling system but I cannot see anyway of refilling it..... via the overflow tank is not the way .... can't imagine German design falling short in this area.

thanks

Yes, thats the way, thru the holding tank. The cap is like any other pressure cap. The tank is higher than the radiator to help purge or burp trapped air as its filled.
