Help with SL600 Transmission Problem
I have a 95 SL600 -With a 4 Speed Transmission- 97k. All of a sudden with no warning I lost Reverse! Just Gone. It just make kind of a winning sound in "P" and "R" but doesn't engauge. All forward gears seem fine. I'm most interested in knowing if there is anything - ANYTHING I might possably try before just laying down for a rebuild.(Additives, filters, ???) And If I need to do a full rebuild? Where should I go? Is a regular tranny shop capable of doing this tranny? God forbid I have to go to the Dealer. What is done on a "Good Quality" Rebuild? What questions should I ask to make sure I'm at a good shop?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
