Fire starting in the trunk of my 2005 SL 500
Has this happened to anyone here yet? My SL 500 was packed at the garage for a month whilst I was away. My mechanic took it for servicing and while packed he was informed of smoke coming from the trunk. When the trunk was forced open the car was already in fire. He managed to put the fire off. The fire started from a control board at the right hand-side in the trunk with all the wiring melted. The whole car could have burnt. I have sent it to dealer shop and they are yet to figure out whether it is repairable and how much it will cost me. Unfortunately this Ghana, Accra and there are not many options. One dealership. Any piece of advice will be helpful.

Common issue BCM should be checked
They are amazing machines but do have there problems. As preventative maintenance you should check the BCM on any R230 2003-2012 because they tend to go bad and burn up. I bought one that went on fire burning up some trunk parts... luckily I was able to repair it as the damage did not get to far. Check out my video of what kind of damage can be done and how I repaired it.
