Dull clunk in cool weather
My 1994 SL500 gives a dull clunk sound which I would guess comes from the right rear wheel area. It is hard to tell while driving exactly where it comes from, so that is a guess. It will happen when I go ovre something not much bigger than a crack in the road, and sometimes it will happen for no apparent reason. I had the tires rotated recently and asked them to check my shocks, but they said all look fine. It has been going on for about two years, never in the Summer, and the Winters here in Tennessee are not that cold, and it doesn't have to be below freezing for the sound to appear. Thanks for any help.

RE: Dull clunk in cool weather
I had a similar clunk. It was not temperature related so very likely is not the same, however, just in case I will mention that my rubber muffler hangers had stretched out such that the muffler would bump on a cross member. I replaced the rubber hangers and resolved my problem.
