do I have to replace all Hydraulic cylinders??
 

Hi Members,1993 500SL,hd cylinder on the right side below the hatch is leaking (spray's a small amout of oil on the 1/4 panel)stopped using the top right away.Everybody is telling me,I have to replace all cylinders $ $$$$ ,is that true or just a money maker story,never a problem before with the Top.any help???thanks Thomas

Your question is a good one and since we have found a quality re-builder for the cylinders, you probably can do them all without breaking the bank, but most of us just have the leakers rebuilt as they fail. The only caveat on that last statement is where the cylinders are in pairs, like the front latches, even if only one side is leaking, do them both. If the one you describe in your car is the one I'm thinking of, it's got a twin on the other side. If true, recommend doing both.

These things fail due to age and heat drying out the cylinder seals. The rebuilder everybody uses can give you the best advice on what to do with the remaining cylinders. Suggest you contact....
