Default Distributor cap and rotor problem

Hi, I have a 1993 mercedes 300sl and I seem to have to change the distributor cap and rotor every six months or so. Im using bosch parts so I dont think thats the problem but I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on why these would go bad so fast or if someone experienced the same problem. By the way I dont drive the car very much and dont put too many miles on it so I dont think its from that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danny

What exactly is failing on your cap and rotor that make you replace them?

Are your spark plug wires and connectors in good shape?

The points inside the cap and the copper on the rotor start getting green like theres some moisture in there or something. and before the cap had a bunch of marks around the points that looked like lightning bolts in black. Once the points start getting whitish green they lose connection and the car refuses to start. I hope this helps and any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danny
