2001 SL500, Battery went dead and now the car won't start. The radio says "WAIT" and all electrical components function... I can't hear the starter click at all. I'm hoping it has to do with the anti-theft system, any help is greatly appriciated... I have the car in the garage and I can't move it out to even have it towed to a dealer.

Please post any ideas... I'l ltry them all!!!

Mercedes has a free roadside service they will dispatch to your location (assume you're in the US) where they will replace your battery, resynch all affected systems, and enter the code in your radio. All you pay for is the battery which you'd have to buy anyway.

You can learn about this at www.mbusa.com , and tomorrow morning call 1-800-367-6372 to get this service.

By the way, whatever you do, don't try to jump start it if you don't know how. It's a tad more complicated than just hooking up cables and you run the risk of doing serious damage to the electronics in the car.

Last, tipping the service tech is up to you, but many do.

So do you you know anything about the anti theft system? Or is there any start up procedure for the ECU that needs to be done? The battery is charged... I put the radio code in... it works like a champ.. But no cranking to the engine. I have a feeling that there is some sort of ignition kill that is keeping power from going to the starter!

I think there is a procedure, wouldn't be Mercedes without one, but I don't know what it is. If you don't get any responses more informed than mine, try doing a search in the forums what you need.

wen you say it dont strat do u mean it does not crank or just blank on start position,if its just blank on start position than its immobiliesd,if its crankin and not firing it could be several things fuel spark PMS SIGNAL REALLY NEEDS TO BE AT MB WORK SHOP..........
