I am thinking of upgrading the radio to the Becker 4602 in the 1990 300SL.
Any opinions from others that have done so, or that selected a different radio?

Also, from anyone that has installed this model, I thought I read that the face plate flips down to load the CDs, does the shift handle get in the way of this?

Any help is appreciated.

I did the radio switch. The Becker 4602 is great - bought direct from Harman-Becker in NJ.

Now what's the best way to add speakers to improve the sound? I searched already, but didn't find anything about speakers in this year SLs. Its a 1990 300SL.

Was there a factory rear speaker placement that I can duplicate?

Anyone have pictures of additional speaker placements?

Prior to my purchasing my 1990 300sl, the previous owner installed an alpine cd player, with the 7" slide out screen, and navigation. It works great, except when you want to adjust the a/c or heat, then you have to push the down button for the screen to move out of your way. It is the same size as the origonal so it looks great, and it sounds much better than the origonal. As far as the speakers in the rear, I also wanted to add something back there, but I didnt see any options out there that looked right. Good luck.

 

I have found pictures of rear speakers in the 500SL. Has anyone added these to their 300SL?
