Unless it is a really new one I think almost all Mercedes have crappy air conditioners. Probably cause they are made in Germany and don't have that much of a need for them. But hey, the heat is GREAT!

Also NEVER take it to a car wash that uses brushes. It leaves little scratches in the paint that eventually become noticeable in the sun.

That must be amazing. Ive always wanted to see how the new S5's or 55's drove, I think the seats and interior is great on them, I had the chance to play with the interior pannels on one at the dealership. I personally love the SL's of any vintage, I own one my self, and love it. There is no greater feeling in your car then having people admire your car. The SL will certainly do that. Enjoy.

Congratulations to your new car. I've a SL55 and I really love this car; the only problem I had was on snow (even with the car build in Germany ). I could not leave my driveway which is going slightly uphill. The S-Class had no problem. So be careful to drive in not so perfect weather conditions...

I'd be more than glad to help you out. 'Course, I'll have to take your car for a test drive. Send me your number. We'll have lunch.

You have the right idea. It's no laughing matter. Keeping the oil clean and fresh is about all you have to think about nowadays. The warranty is good for the rest.

congrats on your sl; I have an '04 Sl500-capri blue with a blue interior; I love it ; it could be a bit faster but overall a beautiful car. I haven't had any problems with it yet . Just make sure that you clean it by hand ; no car washes at all. You will enjoy all the attention that you get on the road.

i love mine, but the following are my caveats.

1. be careful going over inclines and bumps as the front skirt is quite low and has scraped.

2. be sure that accessory battery is fully charged before leaving the car in the garage for long period of times. as that battery powers the automatic locks and the main battery and is a nuisance to recharge. it is located in the tunk.

3. the tire pressure guages and the clock automatically reset after driving if the reset button is pushed.. it does not happen immediately

4. dont buy a lo-jack as the gps alredy on board can be used for the same purpose

Congrats on your new dream car. I totally agree on the car wash thing. Find a good car detailer who is not 19 years old and only let them wax your car. I prefer always driving my cars with the ABC on, it just feels better to me.
Warning: Don't drive a SL55 AMG -- there's no going back
Enjoy the road & the attention !!!
