I have a red battery light when I first start the car with a message to visit workshop. I can reset it but it is still in the malfunctions list. It happened after I disconnected and reconnected the accessories battery in the trunk. I have confirmed I have a charge from the alternator. With the engine off the voltage at the battery is just over 12 volts. With the engine running it jumps to about 14 volts.
Is there a way to remove this malfunction from the list or is this an indication of a problem I still have.

 

most likely you either have a weak systems battery, or a weak starter battery under the hood. sometimes you can see the production date stamped on the battery terminal. 2305= 23rd week of 2005. if its 4 or 5 yrs old. I would replace it. could possibly mean you could a have a weak alternator. Most likely you just need a new battery.
