Default 1999 Mercedes SL 500 Passenger Seat Belt

Hello, Need some help
I have a 1999 Benz SL 500 with 40,000 miles
My passenger seat belt is in the child support mode and I can't get it back to normal mode.
My owners manual on Page 52 talks about a slide switch located on the side of the seat which has to do with inactivating child restrant mode.
I have lookall over and couldn't find it.

Apprecite your support.

Default 1999 Passenger seat switch

The seat moves good, no problem.
I looked again today for the switch and no luck.
Noticed that the seat belt, when not pluged into the red holder you can pull it in or out no problem.
Its when you plug the belt in, the belt goes into the child seat ratchet mode.
When sitting in the passenger seat with the belt pluged in it latches and it's very unconfortable.

Thanks again
Carl

I have a 96, the switch is on the seat frame on the right side just in front of the cushion. If you were sitting in the seat, it would be right below your right knee. I don't know if all years had one. Usually seatbelts are put in the child seat mode by pulling the belt all the way out and then latching around the childseat. When you slowly and partially release the belt, it locks. Try not pulling the belt all the way out when latching. I would try that from the right side and see if the rachet will release the belt. You might also try waiting to latch the belt until the engine is started (try this without a passenger and see what happens. Good luck.

Default 1999 seat belts SL 500

Hello 96SL500

I looked again for the switch mentioned in the owners manual on page 52
nothing there.
You can pull the belt out with no problem until you plug belt into the red part of the seat belt set up at which time it goes into the child support mode.

I did notice that I have a two prong female connector under the passenger seat right side that's not connected. I looked all over under the seat and
couldn't find the male connector. I thought it my be some type of option?
It does have a factory tag on it with some numbers?

The newer seat belt systems for the SL500 uses the pull out belt all the way to release the child mode. I have tried it half way, three quarter etc.

I have tried pulling out the belt but I can't get it out of the child mode?

Any other info on this problem?

Again, I appreciate your support.

Carl
