1998 SL600, low miles, good buy or money pit?
I am looking to purchase a 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL600 with 33,000 miles. I am looking for any guidance from thisforum about this vehicle, repair history, repair cost, overall satisfaction, comments, concerns, etc...Any other information and/or advice that you would like to share with me about this purchase would be greatly appreciated.

this isn't a black and white issue, cause it's a hit and miss when it come to these rigs. some people get an sl and only have to change the oil and that's it. I'm not so lucky, unfortunately [X(] A goodservice companyis so veryimportant. If after you drive the car and if you don't feel its worth any price to keep driving it I would be surprised.the 600, what a powerhouse. The 97 98 vintages I hear are probably the best of the 129s. Oddson, it's a wonderful car....... Have you taken her for a spin yet? [:-] always run a carfax

RE: 1998 SL600, low miles, good buy or money pit?
I've owned a 1998 SL 600 since 2003. It now has 35000 miles (I've driven it 8000 miles in 4 years). I've been very satisfied and have had no problems. I took it to the dealer once to have a 4 wheel alignment performed. They charged only $120 and did not present a "laundry list" of recommended work. All in all, I couldn't be happier. In the long run, I say it would help if you are tech savy (to read trouble codes, etc.), as this car (and the SL 500) have very complex systems that will eventually have bugs and failures.
