Hi, I have a 1993 300 SL and the battery drains every morning. I drive the car fine then park it overnight. I go to start it in the morning and the battery needs a jump. Does anyone know how to test if the battery is being drained by a short circuit or does anyone know what kind of tests to run to see why the car battery would keep dying. Is there a tool or a method that would allow me to test whats draining the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The cold weathers coming and I'd like to resolve this issue while its still somewhat nice out.
Thanks,
Danny

most car batteries can't take more than 1 or 2 times of going completely dead before they are shot. make sure the battery is good, take it to an auto parts store and have it tested. if it checks out ok. try unplugging the seat modules. they are under the cushions. two big phillip screws in the front and lift up on the front of seat. another slow process is to remove one fuse at a time to each system. these drain problems can be a pain to find even for a dealer with the best of diagnostic tools. Instrument clusters analog clocks can short too. you may need to take it a local mercedes owner recommended shop. good luck.

The symptoms you describe are indicative of a faulty battery. Brookings is right in suggesting a test known as a "load test" which can be done by any battery shop [in the car]
If you replace the battery, don't be cheap.....use a battery with MB specks for your car. Using a lower rated battery will result in shorter battery life and performance of your electrical system.
