Default What is a good High Speed Tire in 15" ?

hi guys.,

I am looking for a good high speed tire in a 15".
when I say high speed., i mean cruising at 140 or 150mph.

i live in the desert and i can cruise high speed often.

i currently have some Pirelli Cinturato 3000's.. I think they are only rated at about 112Mph.

thanks,
Kevin

I run continentals contacts 25" one width wider then stock, at 100 mph they are smooth and responsive.

It's more important to get the appropriate speed rating as opposed to a particular brand.

V = 149 mph
W = 168 mph
Y = 186 mph
Z = >149 mph (it's never been clear what this means,i.e., what's the top limit?)

Speed ratings apply only to brand new tires that are properly inflated and have never been damaged or repaired. You increase the risk of tire failure the longer you drive at these speeds.

You can find road condition for those speeds in Mercedes in several states.
What I would start with is checking the car governor.
I have V-rated tires on the car with governor set at 125 MPH.
Should that make sense?

I am in CA, but imported the car from Minnesota.
I believe the governor speeds apply the same to all 48 states.
You might have non-American version in Thailand?

The speed governor is different by car models and car manufacturers. There's no standard as far as I know. The designers must determine the top speed using all the appropriate variables such as tires, suspension, engine power, politics, etc, etc.

I guess the last is the most crucial here.
From what I was able to check, sport cars have 125 MPH, our ML is 115, friends GMC van 100.

I had my SL to 140 mph. It will go faster.

My Corvette limiter is set at 178 mph, I think. If not, it's very close to that. My memory is weak for that number.
