W220 wipers intermittant
On my 2000 S500 I turn the lever and sometimes the wipers start other times they dont. More often than not they dont. I checked fuses/relays and cleaned still not working. The switch is good because whenever the wipers quit I can hear a slight click when I turn the key on and feel a nudge in hte wiper blades. Do I need to lube or change the wiper motor? Thanks for the help

RE: W220 wipers intermittant
Suggest ensuring:
-Rain sensor on rear view mirror pointing forward is clean and clear path of sight to the windshield and the inside of windshield is clean.
-A black, cigar shaped, sealed, multipurpose relay box in the "relay center" (see alldata.com or repair manual), controls the wipers and other items. These do go bad, sometimes. Usually it is something simple.

Oh, I wondered where that sensor was. I have never been happy with the way that mine worked and know I think I know why. The state safety inspection station always put the sticker on the windshield behind the mirror. Suppose that is blocking the sensor? Mine never seem to come on often enough for my likes.

Same issue my S600. I even doubted the combo relay and took it apart and tried to clean conacts. Still did not work. I then relocated windsheild stickers and the wipers worked perfectly. I would clear any stored codes in the computer modules also, if you can. Bill Mercer

RE: W220 wipers intermittant
I am going to hijack this thread with a continuation of the same discussion. On my 2001 s500, the rain sensors sometimes run perfectly, but more and mre often they just go full spped in the intermittant mode. Even in the garage and when there is no rain. I seem to be able to reset them by turning off the car, but that is about a 5 minute fix if that.
I wonder if my sensor is just bad? I see new ones on e-bay for around 70 bucks. I have no stickers or obstructions on the glass. Any thoughts on this? It is quite irritating having this issue in Seattle!
