Default W126 AMG

I've been doing some research and looking for possible upgrades for my W126, but my aim is to add to it without taking away the comfort and quality and character of the Mercedes.

The things that caught my eye the most so far is AMG upgrades for the W126. I noticed it is most commonly found on the 560SEC and last I heard was that it was a very expensive upgrade back in the eighties up to early nineties for that car since AMG wasn't as "common" as it is today. Some people say that the AMG kits and or parts for the W126 has been discontinued. Yet, I've seen some recent W126 AMG upgrades. The AMG doesn't make mention of the W126 or the 5.6 engine, chips or anything, nor can I find a mention of these upgrades anywhere on the net besides finished products. And when I ask a supposedly W126 AMG owner about the upgrades they are pretty mum about it or "it came like that." Are the W126 AMG performance parts are really gone for ever.

If so, what's the next best thing? I heard about taking the resonators off for more horsepower but I believe that will make the car a more noisy. Most people who does this say it makes the car only a little more noisy. Then again, those people with those loud pipes on their rice burners say that their cars are fairly quiet. (They must be going deaf from all that noise.)

The point is that I know I can tweak that large V-8 to put out more horsepower without killing the charateristics of the car and would like suggestions or any tips on people who have done this or know people that have done this.

I have a catolog somewhere about a cam upgrade kit for the 560 when i find it i will let u know. Three years ago i had the chance to buy an AMG front and rear bumper for the my 300 but i did not want it to bad i did not buy it. I know your in Germany but call these people http://www.mbpartsonline.com/ at the Maryland number and ask them if they have a 126 AMG body kit or parts to one they should be able to help you. I live not to far from them and there about 50min outside of DC they are good people. They are not super cheap but what u buy is not junk everything is tested.

Ah! after a little more research I finally found information on the 560SEC AMG. The whole transformation costed $143,000 including the $73,000 SEC back in 1988. It was a 32 valve 5.6 engine that produced around 360 hp and over 400 ft/lb of torque. That's the engine I want. But now I would have to find a 560SEC donor or buy one. Now my question is as many people running around with the AMG badge on the W126, I wonder if it's the real thing or just a few upgrades with an AMG badge.

Go figure, the W126 AMG was an actual car that was produced by Mercedes in conjunction with AMG. The C36 is still considered the first off the line AMG vehicle since back in the day you hadto buy the car separate and then send it to AMG for the mods.
