Ahoy, Mercedes Folks,

Just bought a very nice '96-S420 (to supplement my '98 SL500, and replace my '94 E320). Battery went dead, charged it, and now the trunk will not latch. Maneuvered the red lever in the hatch, checked all fuses (with delay on #9). Played with trunk key. Nothing.

I've ordered manuals, but don't yet have them.

Right now, my latch is duct tape!!! Any ideas?

Ahoy, Mercedes Folks.

All fixed. A' knowledgeable' guy re-assembled the stuff, cycled the trunk key a number of times, and it's all OK now.

There is a remarkable amount of complexity and mechanism for the trunk key and latch! I'm an Aero Engineer, and this is beyond belief!!!
