Suspension/ride issues 1989 560 SEL
I am experiencing a rough ride and noises even when going over small bumps or a rough road in my 1989 560SEL. The car seems to bounce more than usual after hitting a bump;with the rear seeming more susceptible to exta movement. I hear a thump in the trunk but no rattling. Any suggestions as to where to start?
Thanks,
Herb

could be sub frame bushings. not too hard of a job, just must be careful for personal safety.
if in the front could be guide rod mounts and various other suspension components. The parts are relatively inexpensive for all the racket they put up when they go bad, but it's a laborous job and best to replace as much as you can while the front suspension system is taken apart.

I agree with BlackWolf. Sounds like guide rod bushings to me. If shocks are leaking, replace them as well, but look at ALL the rubber and replace the ones that are cracked and failing. I'm in the process of doing the same thing on my 420SEL.
