S500 w140 condenser access
Greetings everyone, im new on here and from what i can see you are a very good bunch and can maybe help with my problem...
I am trying to access my aircon condenser located behind the dash as when the system is gassed up it seems to be leeking through the centre air vents into the car and only holds the charge for the remains of the day, is there any easy way to access this without having to remove the dashboard, i have heard you can do this from the side of the centre console??
I have tried some 'aircon sealant' kits but to no avail.....
regards

If is leaking in the heater (evaporator) assembly you are looking at a huge job, the entire dash comes out, and have someone who has done it before DO it. There are vacuum lines and electrical lines, and some things that should be replaced on a visual basis. My MB dealer does not let just any tech do it, I never expected to see my car taken apart that far. They checked bulbs, when putting back together, and missed two. The shift and headlamp indicator, one fell out (N/C) still $3000.

Thanks Peter........ i feared it would come to this, i did have a few techs who told me the same, that the dash would need to come out
and i was hoping some 'air con sealer' would do the trick but it hasn't. So i think it's time to trade the car in for a newer model, it's not worth the expense to have it repaired unless i can do the job myself!!
thanks again
