I have the opportunity to buy an extended 3/36 compehensive warranty $0 deductable that includes many things such as the air suspension, ABS, ESP, full powertrain, Climate control, and many more systems for $1800. It is through Guardian who has been in the business since '86.
Assuming the company is around for 3 more years, based your experience if you had this opportunity with your S class would you do it.

3/36 means... 3 years or 36k miles?
within 3 years, there is big possibility that any of those components will get defective.
i have no problem with $1.8k, but the problem with these companies are the invisible lines they wrote with the contract.
i haven't heard anybody who has been happy because their extended warranty shoulder the expenses that they are suppose to pay.
there is always the glitch.

Yes 3yrs, 36K miles (I will probably do only 20K in 3 years). Good points SW, reading between the lines is one thing but invisible lines are real tricky. I will ponder some more.

I'm jealous! 1800 including airsuspension sounds too goo to be true. Be careful and read the fine print. Lots of extended warranties say "covered if the problem is created by a defective part covere under this warranty". Of course, thats usually not the case and you get stuck with the bill.

I'll reply when I get the details which should be sitting in my fax at my office now. I am going for a look tomorrow, we shall see, I too am a little skeptical considering one air bladder/shock is $1500.

aftermarket warrentys are great however there always looking for a way out of paying for something like here is an example my friend bought one his rear main seal was leaking normally covered item. they always send out an inspector to the shop your getting it repaired at. well the inspector arrived sai the seal isnt covered due to the car had 19 inch rims on it. yes you ask what does that matter well the contract stated if anything on the car is changed from factory setting the warrenty is null and void. so you go ahead and think about that warrenty and read every word of the contract.

I just paid 3,600 for 4 years, 60K miles for my 2001 S500. It is a bumper to bumper, no deductible. It is called Platinum plus through Ultimate Warrantee corp. I had this on an older Volvo and it paid off in droves for me, so I did it again. A huge piece of security for me. Yous sounds a little low on miles, but not a bad price. Be aggressive in getting suspect systems fixed. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip SS, I checked them out and the air compressor is covered, seems none will cover shocks/struts/air bladders in the suspension. I am told by the dealer that the air bladders hardly ever go out but when they do it's $1,500 each.
Unfortunately, this warranty has to be purchased from the dealer at the time of sale so a no go for me. I may re study the Guardian plan and see if the compressor is covered under the electrical system.
