do you have airmatic on your S500??
if so, there are buttons on your center console - one dampening level, other ride height. If that not low enough for you, then you can pay around $1500 and get a lowering module. I think you can get one from RennTech, and other tuning companies

The HEIGHT button on the dash only raises the car for "wading" etc.
The DAMPER button only changes the ride setting from "normal" to "sport"
YES....BUT....... the ride height can be changed with the correct software to access the airmatic computer. Problem is who outside MB actually has this software.
I'm not sure whether the dealership STAR DIAGNOSTICS actually has this level of capability or not. It can certainly read but maynot have "WRITE" capability.

MB has a tool they can plug in and if your nice to them, they may adjust it to the specs you provide. However, theymay comment your service record that it was adjusted outside factory specs at your request though. It will cost you $100-$200.

Yes, the Star Diagnostic tool can change that. There are also many other tricks of doing so. On the axles there are level sensors. There is a linkage from the sensor to the axle. This linkage is NOT adjustable. BUT if your linkages brake, the new replacement linkages ARE adjustable. You can trick the sensor and lower your car...Shhhhhh you didnt hear it from me...

Hi Nelson,
Thanks. That is a bit of useful information.
When I worked for BMW I knew the "factory" software allowed access to such parameters but wasn't sure about the MB Star service tool. Now I know.
Likewise I did not know about the adjustable linkage on the height guages. I wonder why they have introduced such a feature since it introduced another potential variable. Mmm?
I would love to clarify a few other issues.
Any chance you could find time to contact me via my PM with your email?
