Pricing out a W140 coupe CL500
Hey guys, I'd like to figure out, how much this car is worth now and if anyone at all would be interested:
1999 Mercedes CL500, about 115000 or so, dark blue metallic with gray interior. I've been sitting on this car for years now, it's been parked for over a year at a local dealer, the idea was to sell the damn thing, but with the oil prices so high, then with the recession, I haven't been able to get any interest in the car at all lately, except for some really, really low offers which don't make any sense to me... What you guys think? The car does have some paintwork done to it, but it hasn't been in any real accidents.

What sort of price are people offering you?
As a guide, here in the UK, for a 1999 CL500, you would be very very very lucky to get £5,000 GBP for it in the current market climate (thats about $7,156.25 US Dollars at todays conversion rate for our friends in the USA).
The problem is a 2001 CL500 can be had for about £8000 GBP (about $11,450.0), so not much more, for a car that is percieved by the average person to be better and much cooler.
Have a look here for an idea about what is happening/going in the uk (if you are not in the UK):

Here in the UK the value of large engined old mercs has bombed in the last 6 months, people are not so keen on them them because of fuel, high servicing costs, plus new car tax rules in place that hit cars with large engines made after 2001/2002. I dare say similar things are happening in other countries?
Selling a W140 CL used or new was never as easy as selling a standard W140 sedan, but will be harder these days I would say, you have quite a small market to go for in reality. When new, the sedan W140 out sold the coupe W140 by almost 16 to 1 based on total numbers sold.
I guess the question is, how much do you want to get, and how does that compare to the market, also if it has been sitting unused in a local dealers garage, I would not be surprised if the aircon has gone if the gas was not replaced a short time before, as the system uses the gas to keep it lubricated, and the worst thing to do is not use it for 6 months..........
