Mercedes of course will tell you to use their product, as other phones can cause electrical problems. I have a Nokia cell I carry around and never had a problem with my cars. But there is always a chance that a cell could screw up something. In today's cars you literally sit in a hugh Magnetic Field, and a cell phone that has a surge or a reception problem, might disturb the field around the car and as I said some system could act up.

You can talk with any phone, but only MB motorola phones will interface with the set up. there are 3 major itms PSE, Splitter, and some others. The phone itself is locked to a particular "carrier" and can not be changed. The dealer gets a "kickback" when it is activated. The razor is not supported , the v710 and v600 are, and they now offer something for Sprint.
