No sound from speakers---2000 S500
There is no sound from my speakers when I turn the radio on but the display shows the radio on and I can switch between channels. I keep playing with the volume button and nothing...I changed out the fuses under the rearpassenger seat (f61 and f66) still nothing. Also the cd changer is saying "No CD Changer" when I switch to cd...I haven't tried the tape player since I don't have any tapes. What is the problem?

RE: No sound from speakers---2000 S500
hi all:
i had the same problem, i checked all the fuses but none were bad , looked online but i couldn't find help, so finally i went into my locale mercedes dealer and here is what they told me, they said that i had a bad cd changer and that a new one would cost around $850 so i refused to pay that much and they said that they can take it out of the loop, ( they said that everything is connected together via the d2b controller and if the cd changer goes bad the amp will not turn on) , so $178 later now i have sound from the radio and tape but no cd. it is something that you could do it yourself , i saw a fix on a website i will try to post a link , good luck.

if it reads no cd changer, then you will need and new one...common problem on the 00 and 01 is the pse for the phone located in the l/r trunk area....can also be hard to determine as it can be any unit with the d2b ring...the d2b is the circuit that connects all the audio system and it's fiber optics...you may need to take it to a dealer to determine the exact problem..
