Its a Mercedes-Benz 380 SEC and has sunroof, powersteering and A/C and A/T transmission

The odometer shows 399000 km/247927 Miles

Ive heard that rust is a typical problem when it comes to Mercedes.
lll be glad to get some hints about other well known errors or faults to look for when im evaluating this vehicle

Thanks

I have owned a '98 E320 from the beginning and still love this car. The only problems of consequence were electrical computer related. A good mechanic I know changed modules until all issues were resolved. Main thing is not to fix anything unless it is broken. Even the spark plugs. I'm coming up on 160,000 miles with the original set and still get great gas mileage. About the car you are looking at, a gas model with the miles it has, unless I was a mechanic and knew what I was doing, I would be extremely careful. :-)

Bought it today. The window in the door on the drivers side doesnt move, It may be just a connection which is disconnected, or something similar. The seller told me that the fusesystem when it comes to the window is organised diagonally; the rear sidewindow on the passengers side works, so the fuses are ok. Some idea about where to begin looking?

I have the same issue occasionally and mine seems to be in the switch. When the same happens I just operate the switch a few times and it returns to normal operation. I know that is not a fix but may get you headed in the right direction as if after switching it to the down position only it does retract then you can pretty much assume you need a new switch. Other than that you will need to isolate where you loose the power as in before the switch, at the switch, between switch and the motor, or the motor itself.
