My keys for my 2000 s430 does not bring the windows down or up when I hold it down and point it to the door handle. I know that benz are able to perform this tasks. Is there a way to turn that option on or off. or is it something wrong with my key. Can it be fixed? if so, how?

I also want to make a copy of my key. I called the benz dealer in Long Island, NY and they told me it would cost me approx. $400 for a duplicate with the valet key. Can I buy the outer casing from ebay and have it programmed by benz. Would it work to say that the second key stopped working and I just want it reprogrammed. Would they know its not from my car? Just want to know what my options are. Or if the only thing i can do is take it to the dealer and pay the $400.

 

yes you have that function.

make sure that all windows including the sunroof were initialized.

open all doors and windows.

go outside the car and close the door.

point the key to front driver's side door handle and press the lock button. never let it go for sometimes it takes several seconds. keep on pressing till the global closing of the windows is done.

you can then try opening it doing the open button.

inside the car, the function is also available. pressing the activated carbon button for 10 seconds will open all windows and sunroof while recycle button will close them all.

try it.

 

How do I make sure that all the windows are initialized? Do I have to go to the dealer to have them do that, or is it something I can do myself. Thanks again

 

The key and the windows are working fine, thanks for the instructions. But I can do it from outside, but i'm not sure how to do it from the inside. The Carbon and Recycle buttons you talk about, I can't find them. Please let me know if its marked under a different name or where specifially they are located?

 

I have a 2001 S500 and have had similar issues with the laser key not always functioning. Mine works sometimes and other times not. (It seems to work better in a garage or in the dark than it does in the sunlight... not sure if that is related.)

I will try to initialise them as you reported. I am also interested in trying the carbon filter button. That is the vuttone on the bottom left of the center consul for the climate control

I am still concerned there is a problem with the laser system in my car, as sometimes the stuff opens/closes and others it won't. No rhyme or reason. Any comments onm this would be appreciated. Thanks!
