Ignition Issue - Key won't turn
I have an ignition issue with my '88 300SEL. My key will not turn once put into the ignition. I believe the tumbler is worn out, at this point, it seems pretty badly. My real issue is that I don't know where or how to order a newer key tumbler and my other issue is that I can't find a manual that shows me how to take the ignition tumbler out so I can replace it. If anyone could provide any insight, I would most appreciate it.

Is the ignition just locked? You didn't mention slightly forcing the steering wheel in both directions while trying to turn the key.
Seems too soon for your tumbler to wear out.

removing the ignition lock is quite tricky since it will permanently lock if the key is not inserted in 2nd position. you may need to destroy it in order to replace... the same thing with the new tumbler, it must be on the second position in order to pull out.
spray some good amount of lubricant overnight and drive it to a reasonable workshop for replacement.
your key is worn out? try making a duplicate so they can put it back to shape.
