Default I did it bought a very nice 79k,2000 S430

I pick it up Fri after work , The only thing I could see/hear was out of the front (pass side) I could hear the suspension motor kicking in until the car leveled out , It would come on only if you sat in the car or sat on the front end , once it level out it would shut off . is it normal to be able to hear it ? I am buying it thru a private party .It has a sport package on her , also comes with 2 sets of wheels and tires ,1 set being amg's ,and the other set mud / snow radials, front bumper could use a little work , new England snow bank

The noise you hear is normal though it should not sound too loud otherwise the motor is probably straining. The air susp motor is located near the front right corner of the engine. You may also hear a hissing sound as it releases air. With body work needed you should be somewhere close to $20K assuming everything else is in mint cond. AMG's are worth a pretty penny alone if they're not curbed or fouled from brake dust.

Congrats and good luck with the "new" Benz.

Good show, I love mine, 76K on her now. If not already done (and documented) plan to change the oil, air filter, fuel filter, and cabin filter. My Air and cabin filters were filthy on a "well maintained" car. Anyone know for sure if the trans is sealed with synthetic and "never needs service". My last MB ('87 300E) required a 30K trans fluid, I did the differential fluid every other time at 60K, it was running perfectly at 155K whan I sold it.

Edit: I agree the air noise is normal, mine occasionally cycles if I open the door while it is in the garage, the doors and locks are vacuum assisted and you sometimes hear the system adjust.

Oh, btw banker, my projector beam headlights are in transit, $302 a set off ebay + $40 shipping. I'll post some pics.

Now that I read the question again, I am not so sure, my suspension stays level. Before I bought it, it sat on the baknks lot for weeks and did not sink. It has sat for nearly 2 weeks in my garage and it stays dead level. The noise is normal, I am not sure about the suspension leveling I assume frequently after you drive it.

$302 for the set, I could not find any at the recycler for MB factory. These are aftermarket much like the tails. I will post pics in a new thread. Should be a plug and play.

I think you will enjoy it, I have an 05 300C and the 7 year old S430 is superior in every respect by a wide margin except in 0-60. The S "feels" like a $75K car while the $38K 300C feels like a mid $20s car, but it does turn a lot of heads and looks way more expensive than it is.
