Default How to adjust my parking brake?

My parking brake seems to be loose or not as strong as it should be. The car will roll slightly when parked up or down hill. Any DIY ideas?

It should be somewhat self adjusting in that any tension loss in the cable system, is automatically adjusted. This system relies on the parking break assy at the wheels are fully functional and the cables not being stretched. IF the mechanism coupling the cables to the shoes is rusted tight, or then connecting cables have somehow stretched, you will experience the problem you desrcribe. If you are not mechanically inclined, you'll take it to a shop, and they will most likely replace those rusted and seized parts or the stretched cables.

Usually, even if your parking brake shoes are worn out, there is enough action to apply the shoes to keep the car stationary. There is an adjustment for the shoes, though. Both rear wheels should be off the ground, and the trans in neutral. Both wheels off the car, with the car supported safely! Through a wheel bolt hole, the adjuster can be spun with a long thin screwdriver, until you can just feel or hear the shoes contacting the drum in the brake disc as you spin it.

But I believe your issue is either with the mechanism at the parking brake being partially or fully rusted together, or you have a stretched cable.
