Hi guys,

I got a '12 S550 4Matic and I'd like to find out if anyone else is having the same problem that I do. When I remove my foot from the pedal (not accelerating) at 53 mph the car makes this high pitch sound all the way down to 49 mph after that everything is normal. At 73 mph it's making this noise even if my foot is on the pedal (constant speed). Mercedes rep. told me that it's normal they all do it. I am thinking it's time for a recall if they all do it.

Can someone confirm? My cousin has the same car and his doesn't make this noise (must be broken )

i would say your hearing the turbo, i listened to the video and i do hear it. cant say ive ever took much notice to that particular RPM range and that noise. almost sounds like electronic interference in the video. it could be the turbos. you can take it in to the dealer and tell them that it sounds loud and that youve compared it to other cars. maybe there is some kind of issue. wont hurt to get it checked out. i would say most likely a tech will say its normal.

 

You signature says cert. MB master 12 years. What dealership in Philly are you with? Maybe I'll stop by for you to take a ride in it?
