First Airmatic problem
Suspension low do not drive. I left her out overnight at the mechanic to put new tires on at -3F.
Any thoughts on extreme cold, is this indicative of future problems? Seems to me this should not happen just b/c of cold temps. I will wait and see,I gave the maechanic the raise and re boot procedure, let it warm up in the shop to see if it is OK.
I have decided as much as I love this car I will pull the trigger and move on at the first sign of major problems. I'll let y'all know.

Well, after a raise of the suspension via the dash, everything is working as normal. I'll pick it up tomorrow after another cold night outside and we'll see what develops.
A W140 is not a bad idea at all,

Idunno were you are located but my uncle lives in Orlando, FL and the Mercedes dealer there has a 1999 s420 with 78k on it and they are asking 19,500 but my dad who lives in Pensacola called and offered them 15k cash and the best they can do is 15.5k so he said no so its still there.
My Airmatic is back to normal, no issues in 2F temps overnight. The Bridgestone Potenza G009 is superb. Smooth, handsome, quiet, grippy, and best of all powers through snow nicely.[/align]
Hey II Kings...been a while. I think you and I have cars that were born on the same day/same factory. I had the exact same issue. Took her in today and found I had leaky front struts. Replaced the seals on both for approx $575 at the stealership. I had heard that cold weather can often cause this issue because the seals can shrink too much in extreme cold....as the car gets warm, the leakage tends to go away. It WILL happen again though. I recommend getting your front struts checked. Remember...you bought a benz..it's gonna cost you some coin from time to time to keep her looking and running good. Don't bail yet. You'll just get another MB with different problems
PS- I pulled the trigger on getting the new tail lights this week. They look good...now just need to find some front lights!!

Yeah banker, it will probably happen again. It is running better than new. The mechanic said the front was down. It sat overnight at -2F and did not go down again. The last couple of days it has been back in the garage. The steeing is so perfect with the new ball joint and with the new Potenzas the ride is superb (was not bad on the worn Michelins). I commented to wifey when I got home today how much I like the ride and drive of the S430, way better than my 300C which is very fast but also harsh, unrefined and rather crude by comparison. I have no plans to bail (unless I need to pony up $6K for 4 new struts which is unlikely). I am also enjoying my 05 Nav discs, it is actually useable now compared to the old disc I had which was bad for small town information.
New tails make a big difference. I'll probably locate the strut seals online and get my inde to do it if it sinks again.
