Default ENGINE SLUDGE

I HAVE A 1999 S500 THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME THE LIFTERS WHERE GONE . BUT HE ENGINE WAS ALL SLUGED UP THEY WILL HAVE T OVERHAUL THE ENGINE THAT WILL COST ME $15,000 TO DO THAT. THAT WAS MY ONLY OPTION TO FIX THE ISSUE . I KNOW THAT THERE WAS LAW SUIT IN 1998 TO ENGINE SLUG BUILD UP AND A WARRANTY THAT COVERS IT . DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF THIS WARRANTY IS APPLICABLE TO CANADA ALSO OR JUST THE US MB OWNERS TO GET THE SLUG COVERD IN THE ENGINE IN THE LAW SUIT SETTLEMENT UNDER THAT WARRANTY .

You can "clean" engine sludge yourself and it works pretty well. At your local auto parts store. in the car chemical section there are several types of engine sludge remover, You drain a quart or so of oil and drive the cara according to the direction and empty the oil when is is hot, but not to hot to get burnt. If you valves or any other thing is bad you will know after the treatment. For a safer upper engine cleaning got to http://www.autobahnpower.com/products.asp?recnumber=92, and buy BG 44K fuel injection cleaner. it is a mircle cure. I now have it in my project 79 450SLC and I have noticed the difference combined with 93 octane petrol.

I think he's saying his engine is a goner. I don't think a can-o-stuff is going to fix it.

Can you see that comma right after the "92" at the end of your hyperlink? You should remove it. It's preventing your link from working.

Transmission fluid with all those detergents in it does miracle on the crankcase.
BG 44K can be bought at ebay much cheaper, than in the link, but good quality gasoline have that kind of stuff already in it.
So unless you put gasoline from 3-rd World country in your car, don't expect miracle, that doesn't exist.

DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF THIS WARRANTY IS APPLICABLE TO CANADA.....

Obviously an important question to be asking. I recall learing about it from MBUSA. They said the engine warranty was extended to 150K mi (241,402 KM) but of course I had no reason to ask if this covered our friends to the north. I do remember looking up the law suit on the internet and finding it. So, I would certainly do that, then call MBCanada and quiz them.
Good luck, cause that is a nasty price to pay for a rapair.

most probably the service measure was already closed on this case.

you need to replace the piston rings and valve seals... overhauling that is.

all MB deserves warranty wether it is sold from grey market or in bear island.

i wouldn't pay the dealer $15K for ring job or an overhaul; makes no sense.

i would get a new or almost new engine for that money, installed!
