Default Bullet Proof???

still looking at a 93 300sd and one of the draws to the car was that the owner claimed it had a bullet proof (from the factory) option. But lately iv found that many s-class' came with double thick glass for sound proofing.

How do i know if this claim is legit? vin number/ thicknesses???

thanks for any help guys

they all had double pained glass up to 99. if it was bulletproof the front and rear doors are very heavy and you will feel it. i doubt it is bulletproof. ive seen 2 of them in my 9 years with benz. they were a v12 and a V8 engines. there are other things that make them bulletproof like reinforced floor boards and gas tank and extra metal in all 4 doors and hood and trunk. not sure how to tell you for sure.

Bullet proof glass is soft and scratches easy. AS ststed before their a lot heaver. We had to go get a general caught in the riots in downtown Panama. He had a early 1980s benz. We took a flat bed 2 up armoured surburbans and riot gas. Swept the area with gas to get the flat bed in. hooked it up, and noticed the flat bed setting down pretty good as it was heavey. We deliveried the general back to post unloaded him in his driveway, and never got a thank you. He had around a 1000 protestors around his car and if it wasn't so heavey it proubely would of been rolled over.

Look for thick glass and difficulty steering and stopping.
