560SE info
I'm looking at buying a 1985 560SE. Research on the car found it was actually a 380SE and it had a reconditioned 5.6 engine put in a few years ago and they stuck 560SE badges on it.
Anyway some other things I've noticed on it are that when cold it idles at about 1200rpm. I had to press the brakes fairly hard to stop the car and it maintains about 50km\h by itself. The idle gradually lowered to something like 800rpm after it had warmed up. Is it normal for it to idle so high when cold? My current car-a 1980 500SE actually idles at about 550 when cold and about 650 when warm. This 560SE has also been modified to run on LPG Liquid petrolium.
Another thing I noticed was a strange shudder when changing from 1st to 2nd at full power. Examination of the vehicles limited service history reveals that a 500SEC gearbox was fitted to the car. Is this likely to be the cause of the shudder and is it likely that this gearbox will cause problems in a engine it wasnt supposed to be in?
Thanks.

RE: 560SE info
Oh, one more thing, I cant find any proof that its actually a 85 model. It has the woodwork style and air conditioning switches from the first of the 126 series that I thought they changed in 1981 so I'm a bit suspect that its older than they say.
