2002 S500 CD changed not working
my CD changer has stopped working, it says there are no cd's in the magazine. any thoughts?
may not be the end of the world, i have been looking for an IPOD integration kit, which would take the place of the CD changer. has anyone had any luck w/ either scenerio?

RE: 2002 S500 CD changed not working
I have the same problem with my 01 S500. Usually removing the cartridge and putting it back in corrects the problem. I have even had to disconnect the power to the changer to reset it which has also worked. I currently use my ipod with a casette adapter but would love something better, let me know if you figure out a better way.

CD Changer Fails To Load CDs
Was driving listening to CD (factory OEM MC3198) playing when all of a sudden heard a snap and head unit reports cartridge could not be found.
I have disconnected and reconnected power at fuse box (and then had to enter radio code), disconnected fiber line and power to CD changer, ejected cartridge and reloaded cds into cartridge, all with no success.
Put cartridge in changer and I can hear the various trays being pulled into the changer and pushed back out, but when I push the cd button on the factory head unit, I get error that no cartridge is found.
Since the cartridge works perfectly in my wifes 04 C320 CD Changer, I am 99% convinced I have an hardware failure in the SL's changer itself, but I am going to try a couple of other cartridges in my 01SL tonight as a final sanity check.
If worst comes to worst and I am hit in the pocket book for repair/replacement, I would appreciate recommendations (1) repair changer that came with the car or (2) what are recommendations for a replacement changer that will handle MP3 encoded discs in addition to all the standard discs as the original changer (including burned CD-Rs.) I don't own an IPOD although my grandkids do, so I am not worrying about using a plug-in MP3 players.
Appreciate any info and suggestions.

Mercedes S 430 Cd-changer
Please Help. I own 2003 S430. My radio is working but the cd-changer is giving me problems. The command says no cd's in the cartridge when the whole magazine is full. Do I need to replace the cartridge or change the cable? How do you remove the cd-changer from the trunk, since I don't see any screws Thank you please reply
