My engine seized up after overheating and will not start anymore. The repair shop says it needs to have cylinder head gaskets replaced. He said the engine needs to be taken out and the cylinder heads need to be machined. Repair estimate is $6000. Does anyone else have had this problem? Has anyone had a similar problem and replaced the head gaskets only to find further engine damage down the line?

i just wonder...you dont have to take the engine out to do the cylinder head casket!!! I had a 350 small block in high school...the engine known for weak head caskets...I just pulled the heads and have the machine shop shave 2000th...to take out the warpage....Not unless its a full overhaul...then yes...
just my 2 cents....
I know that 350 chevy is a far cry ..from a s500 motor...
