guys i need ur help
i have a 1994 s320 mercedes. when i start my car and drive it, it doesnt change 3rd gear. but if i warm it for 5 minutes then it works fine. once its warm then it drives normal. thanks

 

I am having the exact same problem with my '94 S320. I recently had the tranny overhauled and the issue started. My mechanic can't seem to fix the problem.

Anybody out there know how to fix this???? HELP!

My 1995 S420 was doing the same thing.The check engine light was also coming on. I had the switchover valve replaced. But, it didn't solve the problem. I am now going to replace the AT Kickdown Cable (also known as the Boden Cable or Shift Control Cable). Hopefully, this will do the trick. I'll let you know.

It looks like the problem was with the AT Kickdown Cable (boden cable; shift control cable). I had it replaced three days ago and so far everything is running fine. The check engine light has stayed off, too. Before this, I had replaced the switchover valve and oxygen sensor but was still getting the check engine light and the "upshift delay" fault code. Now, the car is running fine andit appears that all is well. I just hope that it stays that way. Good luck with your problem. Let me know how you make out.

ok 04 S320 may be a 722.602 electronic shift transmission, I can't tell for sure without the complete VIN Number but if it is you may be looking at replacing item #20 which is the electronic circuit plate that mounts on top of the valve body. Time to visit your local Authorized Dealer and request an itemized written estimate of repairs.

 

The part itself is around $185. You may be able to find it for less at some of the online parts suppliers. The cost of labor and installation would be added to that.
