Hey I've seen a W126 with the W140 airbag/steering wheel in it. It looked real nice. I was wondering are they directly interchangable (of course the part numbers aint the same!! I know that!) as far as mounting it on the w126 steering spindle and stuff. Because if it is, I'm eyeballing this nice 1998-1999 S600/S500 Grand Edition steering wheel that would look nice in me W126. Iprefer to keep airbag but if not, then to hell with it the airbag.

 

It's not that bad as long as you dont have your face inches away for the steering wheel. Had a W126 go off 80 mph on the autobahn due to the shock shock caused by a disintegrating flex disk. Felt like a pillow, with some extra powder. No ill effects no irratation. I have heard and actually seen where some people lose eyebows and other burns to the face but in all case two things was common; small and cheap vehicles. Think many small aka economy cars really dont have enough space for the design of their own airbag. Like they use one from their larger and usually upper end car, and just throw it in there without regards that the small car basically forces you to sit lot closer to the wheel. Unless you're too gangster to see where you going and drive while practically laying down. Never heard of them getting airbag burns but havent heard them say much of anything after a good accident.
